Here’s your chance to watch one of the greatest celestial spectacles — an annular eclipse of the Sun on February 6, 2027 — amid some of the most breathtaking scenery on Earth! Come along with Sky & Telescope’s eclipse experts on a week-long expedition to the Southern Hemisphere (February 2–10, 2027) that starts and ends in colorful Buenos Aires. This elegant, cosmopolitan city of roughly 3 million offers a friendly atmosphere and European flavor. There’ll be much to see and do — including a chance to learn the tango! In between our group will explore the beautiful lakes region of Patagonia in west-central Argentina. With Chile’s towering Andes forming its western border, Nahuel Huapi National Park encompasses many rivers, waterfalls, glaciers, extensive forests, and of course Lake Nahuel Huapi itself. By day you’ll experience breathtaking vistas of this lush landscape, and by night you’ll immerse yourself in the incomparable stars of the southern sky. Our carefully selected viewing site is in the small, welcoming town of El Maitén, famous for fly fishing along the adjacent Chubut River. It’s situated between the eclipse’s centerline and its northern limit, from which you’ll witness 5¼ minutes of annularity plus enhanced “must-see” views of Baily’s Beads and the Sun’s crimson-hued chromosphere. And of course, a S&T eclipse specialist will be on hand. |
